Char Launcher Terms of Use

Effective date: 5 October 2026

These terms apply to your use of Char Launcher (“Char”), an Android app made by Black Flame Digital (“we”, “us”). By installing or using Char, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Char. Our Privacy Policy explains how Char handles information.

1. Using Char

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Char on Android devices you own or control, in line with these terms and the Google Play Terms of Service. Char and its design, code and name remain ours. You may not copy, modify, redistribute or resell Char, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows you to.

2. Char Pro

Char Pro is an optional one-time purchase made through Google Play. It currently unlocks custom page colors and the news feed. The price is shown in Google Play before you buy.
Char Pro is tied to the Google account you buy it with and works on any of your devices signed in to that account.
Payments, receipts and refunds are handled by Google Play under Google Play’s refund policies. If you have a problem with a purchase, contact us and we’ll help where we can. If a purchase is refunded or reversed, Char Pro is turned off.
We keep improving Char, so features may change over time. We won’t remove a Pro feature you’ve paid for without providing a reasonable replacement, unless we’re required to, for example because a news or weather provider stops its service or its terms no longer allow it.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

3. News, Weather and Other Content

News. The news feed shows headlines, images and links from publishers’ public feeds and from Google News. That content belongs to its publishers, who are responsible for it. Showing a story doesn’t mean we endorse it. Opening a story takes you to the publisher’s website, where their terms apply. Sources may change or stop providing their feeds at any time.
Your own feeds. You’re responsible for the feed and website addresses you add, and for using their content in line with their owners’ terms.
Weather. Weather data is from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway), under the CC BY 4.0 license. Forecasts are approximate and can be wrong or out of date. Don’t rely on them where safety is at stake. Follow official warnings.
Widgets and apps. Widgets and apps you open from Char are provided by other developers, who are responsible for them.

4. Acceptable Use

Don’t use Char to break the law or anyone else’s rights, or try to interfere with Char or with the services it connects to, for example by sending them automated or excessive requests.

5. No Warranty

We work hard to make Char reliable, but it’s provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including that Char will be uninterrupted or error-free or fit for a particular purpose.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of Char. Our total liability for any claim relating to Char is limited to the amount you paid for Char Pro, if anything. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law.

7. Changes and Ending

We may update these terms. If we do, we’ll change the effective date above, and for significant changes we’ll give notice in the app or on this page before they apply. You can stop using Char at any time by uninstalling it. We may stop offering Char, but Char Pro purchases already made will be handled in line with section 2.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, except where the law of the country you live in gives you consumer protections that can’t be overridden.
